It has been a while.
The past 2 years have been life-altering to say the least. Over the course of the pandemic Inclined has remained steadfast. We rehearsed via Zoom and outdoors in parks, basketball courts, and socially distant studios. We created movement remotely in our living rooms in separate cities and states. We produced two new dance films, one site-specific piece, and new material for our existing work groupthink. We have performed on grass and concrete. We have done virtual talk backs and performances.
We have had to say good-bye to several company members as they have moved on from dancing and NYC.
We have re-evaluated why it is that we dance and create dance. And I think after two years of this Covid nonsense I can actually say that YES: we needed that 2 year break. We needed time to process our lives and wants. We needed time to work at our own pace. And I think we will be a stronger company for it.
As the world tries to find a new normal IDP is finding its way back to live stages. We are currently enjoying a 2nd residency at Union Street Dance in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We are performing live at Movement Research & Dixon Place this spring. We have a new commission with One Day Dance. And yes, still more virtual events to come via Zoom.
To those of you who have stuck with us during this time, whether tuning in on Zoom or just reading our newsletter, I want to say Thank you…and I hope we see you soon.
